It is a legal requirement that all aircraft used for the carriage of paying passengers or freight possess what is known as a Public Transport Certificate of Airworthiness. Issued by the Civil Aviation Authority, this imposes stringent maintenance and safety requirements on the operator and compliance is rigorously enforced. This certificate must always be on board.

All pilots carrying out charter flights must have a minimum of a commercial license. These are also issued by the Aviation Authorities. They then go on to train on a particular type of aircraft. The pilot of a jumbo jet would not be permitted to fly a small business jet, unless he underwent an approved training course, and vice versa. Examiners from the Aviation Authorities have the right to board any flight unannounced and travel in the flight deck or cockpit to check that standards are being maintained. A right they exercise regularly!

Yes! Sapphire will never charter any aircraft from an operator that does not meet our strict passenger liability insurance requirements.

This depends on the type of aircraft involved and the facilities available at a particular airfield. Whilst a Boeing 737 could not use a small grass strip, light aircraft often can. We will gladly research this possibility.

This depends upon the size and type of the aircraft. Generally speaking the smaller the aircraft, the less likely it is to have toilets on board.
